Mental Health for Child Care Providers

The Office of Substance Use and Mental Health (SUMH) and the Office of Child Care (OCC) are partnering together to offer mental health services to qualified child care providers throughout Utah.

Available Services


Qualified child care providers will be able to receive up to four mental health sessions a month that will renew quarterly, as long as they remain employed in a child care setting. Services can be in-person or via telehealth to best meet the needs and preferences of the child care provider. Mental health service locations will be based on the county the qualified provider resides.

Eligibility


You must have a current Child Care Licensing background check associated with one of the following:

  • Center
  • DWS Approved, Exempt Center
  • Commercial Preschool
  • Hourly Center
  • Licensed Family
  • Residential Certificate
  • DWS Approved, FFN in Provider’s Home
  • DWS approved, FFN in Child’s Home
  • Out of School Time Program
  • DWS Approved, Exempt School Age Program

You must also be assigned one of the following roles in the Child Care Licensing Provider Portal and be over age 18, with exception to designated Caregivers:

  • Owner (if individuals, not corporation)
  • Director
  • Director Designee
  • Caregiver
  • Other Staff
